Plastic foreign bodies: reminder for meat salad

Dr. Schrödter Feinkost GmbH from Essen has launched a recall for meat salads. According to the company, the meat product may contain plastic debris. A danger to health cannot be excluded.

Dr. Schrödter Feinkost GmbH from Essen is recalling the product “Mühlenhof Delikatess Herb Meat Salad” with the expiration date (BBD): October 24, 2020, the identity and health mark DE EV 1612 EG (see label on the packaging) and GTIN 27956427.

Sold at Penny

According to the information intended for consumers published by the Federal Office for Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVL) on its portal “food warning.de”, it cannot be excluded that there may be foreign bodies in transparent plastic in the product in individual cases. “A health hazard cannot be ruled out with absolute certainty,” the company writes. The company therefore immediately withdrew the affected product from sale.

According to BVL, the meat salad from the manufacturer Füngers Feinkost GmbH & Co. KG was sold through Penny Markt GmbH. Customers can return the product to the respective store and get the purchase price refunded, even without showing the receipt.

Consumption is not recommended

Contamination or foreign objects in food can cause a variety of injuries and complaints, such as mouth and throat injuries. In addition, swallowed plastic pieces – if they are large enough – can block the esophagus or digestive organs. Internal injuries also cannot be ruled out

And if there are smaller parts left in the body, sometimes they can trigger inflammation. Internal injuries cannot be ruled out either. For this reason, products that may contain foreign bodies should not be consumed. Dr. Schrödter Feinkost GmbH and writes: “The consumption of the affected product is strongly advised against.” (Ad)
